About this product
Metalworkers reach for a ball pein rather than a claw hammer because the rounded pein shapes and peens metal where a flat face would only flatten it. The EMTOP EHAMBH1601 is a 16oz (450g) hammer, the general-purpose weight for a fitter, a welder, a panel beater or an engineering workshop bench.
Its head is drop-forged from 45# carbon steel and heat treated so the striking face resists spreading and the body stays tough under repeated blows. The handle uses a fibreglass core in a shaped design, giving a hammer that damps the shock of each strike and will not shrink or split as a wooden handle can in dry conditions.
Suited to riveting and peening, setting punches and chisels, straightening and shaping sheet and bar, driving and freeing pins, machinery assembly and vehicle repair, and any bench work where controlled metal-to-metal striking is needed. At 450g it is heavy enough to set a rivet in a few blows yet light enough for accurate work with a centre punch, which is the balance most fitters look for in a single general-purpose hammer.
