Longer strokes mean fewer of them, and on wide boards a 500mm blade cuts noticeably faster than a shorter saw. The EMTOP EHAS5002 is the 20 inch model in the range, favoured by carpenters, joiners, formwork crews and anyone regularly ripping and crosscutting construction timber.

Its blade is heat-treated 65Mn spring steel at 0.9mm thick, stiff enough to run straight over the longer span while keeping the cut narrow and the effort down. The teeth are cut at 7 TPI and ground extra sharp for rapid waste removal in softwood and site timber. A three-colour soft handle spreads the load through a long session, and a teeth protector is included to guard the edge in transit and in the tool bag.

Suited to cutting rafters, joists and studwork, sizing sheet material and wide boards, shuttering and formwork, timber yard and joinery shop work, and general building and farm carpentry. Starting the cut on the pull stroke with the thumb as a guide, then lengthening out to use the full blade, gets the most from the extra reach this size offers.
