The gearing runs to 2700rpm, slightly slower than a lighter drill but with more turning effort behind it, which is what counts when a masonry bit is buried in block. Variable speed control sits in the trigger, a forward and reverse switch clears binds and drives screws, and the hammer function is engaged only when percussion is wanted. A set of spare carbon brushes is supplied, so a worn pair can be changed rather than the tool retired.
