Long-run measuring on a plot, a slab or a fence line calls for a reel tape rather than a pocket tape, and this 30 metre steel blade covers a site boundary in one pull. The blade is 12.5mm wide and graduated in both metric and imperial, so drawings in either convention can be worked from directly.

Winding 30 metres back in is the part most people dread; a 3:1 gear ratio turns three blade revolutions for every turn of the handle, which cuts the job to a fraction of the time. The retracting gear is made from pure material for a smooth, consistent wind, and the reel is fully covered in rubber to survive being dropped on concrete and to give grip in wet hands. An integrated handle folds against the body, making the tape convenient to carry and easy to store on a rack.

Setting out foundations, marking fence and paving runs, checking site boundaries and measuring long walls and cable routes are all natural work for it.
