Quick bar clamp with a 63 x 300mm clamping size, worked with one hand so the other stays free to position the workpiece. Joiners, cabinet makers and site carpenters use clamps of this type for glue-ups, holding jigs and pinning components while a fixing is driven.

Squeezing the pistol grip walks the sliding jaw along the bar and builds up to 60kg of clamping force, held until the release lever is pressed. The iron ruler bar measures 5 x 18mm in thickness and width, which resists the bow that makes a light clamp lose grip as pressure comes on.

Typical work covers edge-gluing boards, holding mitres while the adhesive grabs, clamping a straight edge to guide a circular saw, and steadying material on a bench or trestle. Buy them in pairs, as most clamping tasks need at least two. Slip a scrap offcut between the jaw and any surface that will be seen, and take the pressure off once the adhesive has cured rather than leaving the clamp loaded.
