Snap-off blade knife built around the standard 18 x 100mm blade, the size used for cutting board, carpet, insulation, plasterboard, cable sheath and packaging. Snapping off a dulled segment restores a sharp edge in seconds, which keeps cuts clean without stopping to change a blade.

One SK5 blade is supplied, a steel hardened to hold a keen edge through abrasive material. The body measures 173mm, long enough for a full-hand grip when force is needed, and a flat push button advances and locks the blade without protruding into the palm.

It belongs in the pouch of electricians stripping cable sheath, dry liners trimming board, decorators cutting wallpaper and storekeepers opening cartons. Retract the blade fully before it goes back in the bag. Snap a spent segment with pliers, holding the blade away from the face, and collect the pieces in a container rather than dropping them into a bin liner. A fresh edge also cuts with less pressure, which is safer than forcing a blunt one.
