Spring clamps are the fastest holding tool on the bench. Squeeze the handles, place the jaws, let go, and the spring does the rest, which is exactly what is wanted when a part only needs holding for a moment.

They suit light gluing, holding templates and jigs, pinning sheeting and dust screens, keeping cable and hose out of the way, and clamping stock against a fence while a cut is set up.

Cheap enough to keep in numbers, and worth having a handful of them scattered around a workshop.
