Stoning hammer weighing 1000g, the tool masons and stone dressers use to trim, split and shape building stone. At a kilogram it swings comfortably one-handed for a full day, which is why it also finds work in demolition, chiselling and setting out on site.

The head is drop forged and heat treated from 45# carbon steel, a process that closes the grain and gives a face able to take repeated impact against stone and cold chisels. Its fibreglass handle absorbs the shock that travels back up from a hard strike and resists the drying and splitting that shortens the life of a timber shaft.

Use it for dressing quarry stone, breaking out mortar, driving pins and star drills, and rough work on concrete. Check the head is seated before each session and dress any burr that forms on the striking face. Let the weight of the head do the work: a relaxed grip near the end of the handle delivers more force and far less fatigue than choking up behind the head.
