Emptying a sump, a tank or a flooded basement is a job for a pump that can sit in the water and get on with it. This EMTOP submersible pump is rated 370W, half a horsepower, and is designed for clean water duty with a float switch that starts and stops it as the level rises and falls.

It lifts to a maximum head of 17 metres and moves up to 100 litres per minute through a 1 inch outlet, a useful combination for transfer and drainage rather than high pressure delivery. The motor is copper wound with thermal protection, and the base, screws and shaft are stainless steel, so the wetted parts stand up to constant immersion. Nine metres of cable let the pump work well below the point where it is plugged in.

Use it for water tank emptying and cleaning, sump and pit drainage, flooded floors, transferring between tanks and topping up reservoirs.
