Colour rendering above 85 is the point of difference with the MD-DLQ8407RF. At 7W and 490 lumens it is a modest downlight in output terms, but the high CRI means skin tones, paint colours and merchandise look closer to true, which is why it gets specified in bedrooms, bathrooms, boutiques and salons rather than just corridors.

The lamp body is aluminium with a transparent plastic face ring and a frosted milky white diffusion plate over the LEDs, mounted on a white plastic base. Double insulation runs 110mm through the body. The constant current driver is built in and non-isolated, so there is no separate driver box to find space for above the ceiling. Rated life is 25000 hours at an ambient of up to 45 degrees Celsius, with 2KV surge protection and a power factor above 0.5.

Two options are offered: a three-colour switchable version that steps between warm, neutral and daylight, and a fixed 6500K daylight version in a white finish. The cut-out is forgiving at 70 to 80mm, which helps when retro-fitting into an existing ceiling.
