Choosing a chandelier

  • Size to the room: as a rule of thumb, add the room's length and width in metres and use that number in centimetres as a guide to the chandelier diameter (a 4 x 5 m room suits about 45 cm). Over a dining table, aim for roughly half to two-thirds of the table width.
  • Number of lamps: more lamps give more light and a fuller look. 4 lamps suits a small dining area; 6 to 8 suits a living room or lobby.
  • Lamps: these chandeliers take E14 lamps. LED candle lamps run cool and use a fraction of the power of old candle bulbs. See our LED bulbs and candle lamps.
