Ponal Professional White Wood Glue

Ponal Professional is Henkel's white wood glue for the joinery trade. The pack is printed “Ponal PROFESSIONAL White Wood Glue” and carries the Henkel logo with the line “Quality from Henkel”. Henkel makes the Ponal line at its plant in Nairobi and describes Ponal as its professional brand for carpenters. What the pack tells you is that this is a white wood glue, and that is where Henkel's published information for these sizes ends — so this page states what is printed on the pack and nothing more.

Henkel publishes no application list for these sizes, so what follows is how the trade here uses it rather than a manufacturer instruction: furniture assembly, cabinet carcassing, edge jointing and panel work, spread with a brush or a spreader onto clean, well-fitted timber and then cramped. Carpenters, furniture makers, shopfitters and hardware retailers buy it by the carton, and the 4 kg bucket and the 30 kg pail are the sizes that suit a workshop running several benches.

Sold here by the full carton in four sizes, plus the 30 kg pail. One thing to know before you order: Henkel publishes no EN 204 water-resistance class (D1 to D4) for this glue, and no open, press or setting times. Sellers in Kenya quote D2, D3 and “D3 waterproof” for the same product, which tells you that none of them holds the datasheet — so we quote none of it. If your work has to survive water — exterior joinery, bathroom or kitchen carcassing, anything that will see rain — tell us before you buy. We will ask Henkel Kenya for the datasheet, or point you to Pattex PUR Wood Glue, which Henkel does classify D4 to DIN EN 204.

The 30 kg pail is Ponal Professional in Henkel's industrial pack, which is why it looks nothing like the bottles. The label carries the Aquence mark and reads “AQUENCE WL PROFESSIONAL PONAL” and “Waterbased Adhesive”, with contents 30 kg, a batch number, and “PONAL PROFESSIONAL” printed as the trade name; the Henkel roundel is on the drum. Aquence is Henkel's label for its waterbased industrial adhesives. That is what the pail says it is, and it is worth being precise about the limit of it: Henkel publishes no data for the pail any more than for the bottles, so we are not going to tell you the two are chemically identical — only that Henkel calls both Ponal Professional. The pail carries its own hazard triangle and handling marks; read them, and ask us for the data sheet before you put it into production. It is the size for a shop gluing panel all day, and it is the cheapest per kilo of any pack here.
