About this product

Sista is Henkel's foam and sealant brand, and this is the 750 ml Universal can sold here. It is the straw type, not a gun foam: the pack prints “STRAW · PIPETTE” beneath “PU FOAM” and the applicator straw is clipped to the side of the can, so no foam gun is needed. Henkel's own safety data sheet for the Africa market identifies it as Sista PU Foam TR and describes it as a one-component foam with propellant gas — a polyurethane that cures on the moisture in the air and in the substrate.

Henkel publishes no application list for this particular can, so take the following as what an expanding gap-filling foam is used for on site rather than as a Henkel specification: closing and insulating the gaps a trowel cannot reach. As with any expanding polyurethane foam, mineral surfaces are dampened before foaming, anything that could be pushed out of square is braced until the foam has set, and the bead is run in at about a third of the gap because it grows. Cured foam has to be covered — painted, plastered or trimmed over — because Henkel publishes that requirement for its PU foams: unprotected foam breaks down in sunlight.

Sold by the full carton of 12. Henkel publishes no technical data sheet for this exact can, only its safety data sheet, so we quote no yield, cutting time, cure time or fire class for it. The gold badge on the pack carries a figure we cannot read reliably, and we are not going to guess at it. If you need those numbers for a specification or a tender, ask us and we will request the datasheet from Henkel. This is a diisocyanate foam and an extremely flammable aerosol; the hazard information below is Henkel's own and it is not boilerplate.

Handling, as Henkel publishes it for its PU foams: store and transport the can upright, wrapped, and never in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. Remove fresh foam from skin at once and wipe residues with vegetable oil; fresh foam on other surfaces comes off with PU cleaner; cured foam can only be removed mechanically. Henkel also publishes that since August 2023 users of reactive polyurethane products containing more than 0.1% MDI must be able to demonstrate personal training in safe handling on request, and points to the FEICA training tool at www.feica.eu/PUinfo.
