0336A08-02 Solar Home Lighting Unit Off-Grid

A solar home lighting unit for a room, kiosk or workshop in Kenya without reliable mains, model 0336A08-02, sold from our Nairobi trade counter.

A compact solar lighting unit from the manufacturer's home range, the 0336A08-02 is the sort of product bought for a room, a kiosk or a workshop that has no reliable supply. It charges from its own solar panel during the day and provides light in the evening without any connection to the mains.

Households, market traders and small workshops are the usual buyers, often several units at a time. Panel, battery and lamp figures for this model are confirmed with our supplier before we quote them — get in touch and we will have them ready before you order.

How it works

The panel charges the battery during the day, and the battery runs the light after dark. What the panel collects in a day is roughly what you have that night, so a sunny spot matters more than anything else. It also makes a simple standby light for town homes during KPLC outages.

Lighting unit or full solar home system?

This is a lighting unit rather than a power system. If you need light in one space, it is the simpler choice. If you want several rooms lit, or phones and small appliances running too, compare the 0388 series and the 0285 series solar home systems. Buyers lighting a row of kiosks or rooms often take several units so each space charges and runs on its own.

Before you buy

• Count the rooms or spaces you need to light. Plan one unit for each.
• Ask us for the supplier's panel, battery and lamp figures for this model before ordering.
• Put the panel in full sun. Shade from a roof, tree or wall cuts its charge, and a cloudy day means less light that night.
