LED Flood Light Prices in Kenya: 10W to 600W, Which Size You Need, and Mains or Solar
A mains LED flood light in Kenya costs from about KSh 1,000 for a 10W doorway light to KSh 31,200 for a 600W high-mast head. For most homes and shops, a 30W from KSh 1,700 or a 50W from KSh 1,120 is enough for a gate or compound. A 100W costs KSh 4,800 to KSh 6,000 and a 300W yard light KSh 7,000 to KSh 15,600. The same wattage can cost very different amounts because the LED chips, body, driver and published specification differ. If you have mains power nearby, a mains flood gives far more light per shilling than solar. Solar earns its price where there is no cable, or where the light must stay on through outages.

Why the same wattage costs different amounts
At 50W: KSh 1,120 to KSh 3,800
- MODI MD-FL1950L (KSh 1,120). This is an ultra-thin 26 mm body. It is rated at 6,000 lumens, with CRI 80 or above, 4KV surge protection and a 25,000-hour life. Its power factor is listed as above 0.5. It is also sold by the carton at KSh 30,240.
- 5111D50-01 slim (KSh 2,500). This one uses 64 small 2835 chips in a die-cast aluminium body 33 mm deep. It is rated at 160 lm/W, with a power factor of 0.95 or higher, a 50,000-hour stated LED life and a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
- 5110A50-01 (KSh 3,800). This one has the same efficacy and warranty, but uses 50 larger 3030 chips in a deeper 65 mm die-cast body that draws heat away from the LED board, behind a front glass.
At 300W: KSh 7,000 or KSh 15,600
The V.MAX V-FL17300S has a 90 degree beam and runs on AC 220-240V. Its power factor is above 0.5, and the listing does not state an IP rating. The listing also says the published photometric data covers the 100W model, so the lumen figure for the 300W size should be confirmed with the supplier. The 5110D300-01 lists 300 3030 LEDs at 160 lm/W and a power factor of 0.95 or higher. It also has a 3-year stated warranty and accepts AC 100-240V. The extra money buys a published efficacy figure, a stated IP65 seal and a fuller specification.
Lumens, IP65 and colour
Lumens per watt. The 5110 and 5111 ranges are all rated at 160 lm/W, so on paper a 100W head gives about 16,000 lumens. The MODI 50W states 6,000 lumens outright. When you compare two floods, compare lumens if both listings give them. Wattage only tells you the power drawn.
IP65. Every 5110, 5111 and MODI flood above is sealed to IP65 against dust and driven rain. The V.MAX and 5136 listings do not state an IP rating, so ask before you fit one in an exposed position.
3000K or 6000K. The 5110 and 5111 models are listed from 3000K warm white to 6000K daylight. Warm white suits a frontage or a home entrance. Daylight suits a working yard or a security light. Tell us which you want when you order.
Which wattage for which job
Use the mount height your listing gives as your guide.
- Doorway, porch, gatepost, sign: 10W to 30W, mounted at 3-6 m.
- Compound, driveway, forecourt, parking bay: 50W to 100W, mounted at 3-7 m on a wall bracket, eaves or short pole.
- Yard, depot or godown from a pole or high wall: 200W to 300W, mounted at 5-8 m.
- Pitches, lorry parks and large grounds from a mast: 400W to 600W. The 400W is for 7-9 m, the 500W for 10-12 m and the 600W for 12-15 m. Plan the bracket and cabling for a body up to 645 mm wide.
As general guidance, two medium heads aimed from different corners light a compound more evenly than one large head, and they cast fewer deep shadows.
Mains or solar?
A mains flood gives its full rated output all night, every night, and costs far less per lumen. Its costs are the cable, the trenching and a supply that can fail. A solar flood needs no wiring and keeps working through power cuts. But a solar light gives much less light than its nameplate wattage suggests. Compare solar floods by battery and panel size, not by the "W" figure. Our solar wattage guide explains why.
For example, the 0837B100-01 100W solar flood costs KSh 17,000. It has a 25W panel and a 6.4V 18Ah LiFePO4 battery. The mains 5110B100-01 costs KSh 6,000.
Worked cases
- Gate with mains a few metres away. Buy a mains 30W or 50W. You will spend less and get more light.
- Plot or farm gate with no power. Buy solar. Trenching cable over a long distance usually costs more than the light itself. Browse our solar flood lights and compare them by battery Ah.
- Compound with frequent outages. Use mains floods for strong everyday light, and add one or two solar floods on the gate and the guard post so those stay lit during a blackout. You can also put the mains circuit on inverter backup; see what size inverter you need.
- Yard mast, all night. Use mains at 200W and above. If there is truly no supply, the 0837E300-01 300W solar flood (KSh 34,000) has a 65W panel and a 3.2V 96Ah LiFePO4 battery. Its manufacturer quotes 30 to 36 hours of discharge from a full charge.

Common questions
How much is a 100W LED flood light in Kenya?
Our mains 100W floods are KSh 4,800 for the slim 2835 model, KSh 5,400 for the 5136C100-01 and KSh 6,000 for the 3030 die-cast model. Solar floods sold as 100W range from about KSh 4,300 to KSh 17,000, but their "W" figure is not comparable with a mains rating, so compare them by battery Ah and panel W instead.
Is a 50W flood light enough for a compound?
For a small compound or driveway lit from a wall at 3-6 m, usually yes. For a wider yard, use two 50W heads from different corners, or step up to 100W.
Can I buy flood lights by the carton?
The MODI 50W has a carton price of KSh 30,240. For quantity pricing on other models, contact us through our trade page or on WhatsApp.
Do the flood lights come with a warranty?
The 5110 and 5111 listings state a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. The MODI, V.MAX, 5136 and 30W high-power listings do not state one, so ask us before you buy.
