Solar Street Light Prices in Kenya: What KSh 3,000 to KSh 116,000 Actually Buys
In our range, a solar street light costs from KSh 3,000 for a small 50W all-in-one head to KSh 116,000 for a 12.8V road-grade lamp built for a 12 to 15 metre mast, per piece. What you pay for is the battery, the panel and the housing, not the wattage printed on the box. A KSh 5,200 "200W" head stores about 38 Wh of energy; a KSh 57,000 "150W" road lamp stores about 538 Wh. Prices checked on 13 October 2026.
Solar street light prices by type
Stored energy is battery voltage multiplied by amp-hours, in watt-hours (Wh). It is the fairest way to compare lamps. Price per Wh is the piece price divided by that figure. All figures are rounded.
Small ABS all-in-one heads (0426, MODI, ALLTOP)
| Lamp (as listed) | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |

| MODI MD-SLT18 200W | 3.2V 10Ah | 10W | 32 Wh | KSh 4,200 | KSh 131 |
The MODI head also comes as a 300W at KSh 5,600, but its listing publishes electrical figures for the 200W only. The ALLTOP dual-colour light with a PIR motion sensor costs KSh 3,000 (50W), KSh 3,800 (100W), KSh 5,300 (200W) and KSh 6,700 (300W); no battery capacity is published for it. The 0426 heads are rated for 12 to 15 hours of discharge: a night after a sunny day, with limited reserve.
Long-run ABS lamps (0845, 30 to 36 hours)
| Lamp | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60W 0845B | 3.2V 18Ah | 8.5W | 58 Wh | KSh 9,000 | KSh 156 |
| 90W 0845C | 3.2V 24Ah | 11.5W | 77 Wh | KSh 12,000 | KSh 156 |
| 120W 0845D | 3.2V 30Ah | 18W | 96 Wh | KSh 15,600 | KSh 163 |
These cost more than an 0426 head with the same 18Ah battery, but the manufacturer rates them for 30 to 36 hours of discharge and a 3 year warranty, against 12 to 15 hours and 2 years.
The "1000W, 2000W, 3000W" heads (0465 and 0292)
| Lamp | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| "1000W" 0465A | 3.2V 10Ah | 15W | 32 Wh | KSh 8,000 | KSh 250 |
| "2000W" 0465B | 3.2V 15Ah | 20W | 48 Wh | KSh 9,600 | KSh 200 |
| "3000W" 0465C | 3.2V 18Ah | 25W | 58 Wh | KSh 12,000 | KSh 208 |
| "1000W" 0292A | 3.2V 18Ah | 16W | 58 Wh | KSh 11,600 | KSh 201 |
| "2000W" 0292C | 3.2V 30Ah | 30W | 96 Wh | KSh 13,600 | KSh 142 |
The wattage on these heads is a label. A lamp storing 32 to 96 Wh could not run at 1,000W for even six minutes. They are listed for 3 to 8 metre poles and 12 to 15 hours of discharge. Judge them on battery and panel, as explained in what the wattage on a solar light really means.
Die-cast and aluminium lamps (0363, 0949, 0856)
| Lamp | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200W 0363B, IP65 die-cast | 3.2V 28Ah | 24W | 90 Wh | KSh 17,000 | KSh 190 |
| 200W 0949C, die-cast | 3.2V 36Ah | 26W | 115 Wh | KSh 17,200 | KSh 149 |
| 60W 0856A, Bridgelux | 6.4V 12Ah | 16W | 77 Wh | KSh 15,200 | KSh 198 |
| 120W 0856B, Bridgelux | 6.4V 18Ah | 22W | 115 Wh | KSh 22,000 | KSh 191 |
| 180W 0856C, Bridgelux | 6.4V 24Ah | 28W | 154 Wh | KSh 29,000 | KSh 189 |
| 240W 0856D, Bridgelux | 6.4V 30Ah | 39W | 192 Wh | KSh 36,000 | KSh 188 |
The 0856 series runs its battery at 6.4V, so its amp-hours count double against a 3.2V lamp. The manufacturer rates the whole 0856 series for 20 to 24 hours of discharge.
Motion-sensor aluminium lamps (0418)
| Lamp | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60W 0418A | 3.2V 43Ah | 80W mono | 138 Wh | KSh 28,000 | KSh 203 |
| 90W 0418B | 3.2V 86Ah | 80W mono | 275 Wh | KSh 36,000 | KSh 131 |
| 120W 0418C | 3.2V 86Ah | 100W mono | 275 Wh | KSh 44,000 | KSh 160 |
| 150W 0418D | 3.2V 129Ah | 120W mono | 413 Wh | KSh 50,000 | KSh 121 |
A motion sensor keeps output low until something moves; all four are rated for 30 to 36 hours of discharge.
12.8V road-grade lamps (0911C, 0310E, 0477C)
| Lamp | Battery | Panel | Stored energy | Piece price | Per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150W 0911C, aluminium alloy | 12.8V 42Ah LiFePO4 | 65W mono | 538 Wh | KSh 57,000 | KSh 106 |
| 150W 0310E, separate panel | 12.8V 42Ah lithium-ion | 48W mono | 538 Wh | KSh 67,600 | KSh 126 |
| 0477C, IP65 aluminium | 12.8V 72Ah LiFePO4 | 140W mono | 922 Wh | KSh 116,000 | KSh 126 |
The 0911C has the lowest cost per watt-hour in the range. The 0477C is listed for 12 to 15 metre installation, which needs an engineered mast.
Budget for a whole pole, not just the lamp
Every price above is for the lamp alone. Poles, brackets, concrete foundations and installation are not included, so get those quoted separately. As general guidance, use the spacing rule from how to choose a solar street light: poles at about three times the mounting height.
Worked example: 10 poles on a 200 m estate road. Ten poles give nine gaps of about 22 m. At three times the mounting height, that suits poles of about 7 m. Lamps listed for that height cost, for ten:
| Lamp (listed height) | Stored energy each | 10 lamps |
|---|---|---|
| 200W 0426D, 6000K (6 to 7 m) | 38 Wh | KSh 52,000 |
| 120W 0845D (6 to 9 m) | 96 Wh | KSh 156,000 |
| 200W 0949C (6 to 8 m) | 115 Wh | KSh 172,000 |
| 120W 0418C sensor (6 to 8 m) | 275 Wh | KSh 440,000 |
To that, add ten poles, ten brackets, ten foundations and labour. Delivery on each of these orders is free. The cheapest set lights the road after a clear day; the dearer ones are rated for 30 to 36 hours of discharge, reserve beyond a single night.

Common questions
How much is a 200W solar street light in Kenya?
From KSh 4,200 for the MODI MD-SLT18 200W (32 Wh) and KSh 5,200 for the 0426D in 6000K (38 Wh), up to KSh 17,000 and KSh 17,200 for the die-cast 0363B (90 Wh) and 0949C (115 Wh).
Why is a "2000W" head cheaper than a 60W one?
Because the wattage is a label, not a measure of storage. The "2000W" 0465B at KSh 9,600 stores 48 Wh from a 20W panel. The 60W 0418A at KSh 28,000 stores 138 Wh from an 80W mono panel, has an aluminium body and a motion sensor, and is rated for 30 to 36 hours.
How much is a solar street light with a motion sensor?
The ALLTOP PIR sensor light costs KSh 3,000 to KSh 6,700, with no published battery size. The 0418 sensor series costs KSh 28,000 to KSh 50,000, with 138 to 413 Wh of storage.
How much is a 100W solar street light?
The 0426B 100W costs KSh 3,600 in 6000K or KSh 4,600 in the 3000K or 6000K listing, both with a 19 Wh battery. The ALLTOP 100W is KSh 3,800.
